Mahatma Gandhi is known for promotion of nonviolent resistance and his efforts (including hunger strikes) which led to India's eventual independence. However, no person is infallible...to say the least. Gandhi is also known to have held very racist views when it came to black people. His writings are a clear indication of that. Oh, and he also enjoyed sleeping with minors, as a caveat. But, that's a whole other story...
